Phased Plans
A Phased Approach

Phase 1: Foundations for Success

• Pier Refurbishment: Upgrade and extend Jackson’s Pier with modern fixtures
(ladders, mooring furniture, lighting, navigation aids) and utilities (power, water).
• Sheltered Mooring: Install a 135m floating breakwater with rock armour for
protection, creating mooring for up to 40 vessels.
• Access & Onshore Facilities: Build a new access road, welfare facilities (toilets,
showers, laundry), equipment storage, and enhanced parking with public
amenities like a coffee kiosk.
• Dredging: Deepen mooring areas around the pier and breakwater.

Phase 2: Community and Connection

• Floating Pontoons: Install pontoons within the breakwater for up to 50 vessels.
• Public Amenities: Develop a promenade, dock ramps, and improve public
lighting, security, power, and water services.
• Dredging: Further deepen the sheltered areas for enhanced functionality.

Phase 3: Enhancing Harbour Infrastructure

• Commercial Quay: Refurbish Rosses Point Harbour pier, widening the quay and upgrading fixtures, utilities,
and lighting.
• Slipway Improvements: Widen and extend slipways to enable all-tide access.
• Additional Mooring: Provide space for up to 15 vessels and explore options for more floating pontoons
based on demand.
• Dredging: Deepen harbour areas for increased vessel accommodation.

Phase 4: Future Expansion

• New Quayside: Construct a 70m quay east of the RNLI station with complete fixtures and utilities.
• Extended Protection: Add 55m of floating breakwater to enhance sheltered mooring space.

Each phase ensures incremental growth and aligns with funding availability and community needs, positioning Rosses Point as a premier maritime destination.
