The Existing Pier

Existing Facility
The Existing Pier and Proposed Location for the Community Boat Park in Rosses Point

The existing pier beside Sligo Bay Lifeboat Station was built in the 1970s. It was built to replace the berths lost by boat owners when the promenade into Rosses Point was built using land reclaimed by the sea on the shorefront.

A simple, but unfortunately rushed solution at the time, it has now grown unsafe and unsuitable for the vast amount of people who wish to use the all tide access available in Rosses Point.

Why Now?

  • The existing pier at Rosses Point is outdated and needs urgent safety upgrades.
  • Booming marine tourism puts Sligo at the perfect crossroads for growth.
  • This project drives local jobs, boosts businesses, and ensures a thriving marine legacy.
  • There are funding opportunities upcoming which can be capitalized upon with the right support.
